Condition Report

A couple of very tiny and a few minute edge chips, few very light surface marks, perfectly clean and very high glaze brilliance.

 
One of the most amazing things about blue and white printed tiles is that one would expect the most characteristic flow blue to come from one of the pottery and tile companies like Mintons China Works or Wedgwood but Minton Hollins, tile specialists, produced the very best helped no doubt by their brilliant white clay. This is a very fine example of flow blue colouring on a tile.

A wildlife scene of ducks swimming, flying and sitting looking at the water and in to the distance, a good variety of poses. Perhaps designed by W P Simpson who is recorded as having done animal groups for Minton Hollins.

Perfectly clean verso fully named as always.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on screen is about the size as it would be in real life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
