A beautifully detailed aesthetic period tile with 2 vignettes of birds, a typical crane and rather more unusual woodpecker with alternating vignettes of flowers. The tiles have lovely flow blue colouring which is quite rare on tiles, shown to it's best on a bright white body.

The design was registered in 1882, as there is no registration mark it is likely it was made when the registration expired after three years.

Condition: Excellent+
Price: £70 (approx $138)
Ref: 01368

A few very small glaze chips on the edges, the face has a very light scuff line across it which can only be seen on close examination with the tile tilted to the light. This tile was in a washstand and the scuff line was probably caused by the spout on the water jug. The glaze is very clean and bright.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
