A bright and colourful tile in super majolica glazes, naturalistic pansies with a particularly bright pink larger flower and smaller bud. A super example of Victorian Majolica.

This was designed by George Cartlidge and the pattern originally made by Sherwin and Cotton, Corn Bros would have made theirs when the copyright had expired. We actually see very few by Sherwin & Cotton and Corn Bros versions are usually in three colours of typical greens and yellows, in five colours it is scarce and with pink it is rare. The predominent natural colours of green, brown and pale yellow compliment almost any setting and the pinky-red flowers add that great feeling of warmth, the touch of blue in the flowers gives a great diversity.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Surface marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
