A great colour combination in this hand crafted design from the excellent collection of Henry Richards including an uncommon teal background and two blues in the flowerhead. Good green and orange too which perfectly compliment the stippled colouring of the flowerhead.

See also this tile which has the same pattern/colour number yet the background colour in particular is quite different. This illustrates the difficult they had with producing colours, most notably slight variations in kiln conditions would alter the final colour.

The name and address of the original customer is written in pencil on the back of tile 01928, Mr Westgard, 9 Clissold Street, Merivale which is in New Zealand.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
