A typical late Victorian floral design however quite rarely seen in lead glazed majolica but common as transfer prints. These design was also made as a transfer print. Quite interesting from a technical point of view as it just predates the advent of the more brilliant translucent glazes that became widespread in the last few years of the Victorian era.

* Incised in to the light plate with the design on on the back of the tile there is a six digit number. We take this to be a design registration number as they were six digits and the company used a different numbering format for pattern numbers and usually put registration numbers in the central circular reserve.

Condition: Excellent

Price: £65 (approx $115)

Ref: 02057

One very small, some tiny edge chips/roughness. One tiny surface chip, other exceedingly light surface marks, a clean and bright tile.

The back is distinctive with it's moulded aesthetic style stork and lanscape elements.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be easily spotted. Minor surface marks described are not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
