A great handpainted picture in the aethetic taste of a minstrel lost in his playing being seated on a stool between two sunflowers. Most unusually matt glazed and in hushed tones and with the pure white body first painted in a cream background. A more typical blue printed example is illustrated in Lockett on page 190.

The body is handmade porcelain of tile thickness, combed and stamped Copeland.

Condition: Very good
Price: £225 (approx $450)
Ref no: 02199

A near invisible hairline crack from just below the top of the left side to the left shoulder but in this strong porcelain tile of no threat and the tile rings true. There's a group of chips around the bottom left corner, small chip bottom right corner, other tiny edge chips, a couple of light scratches across his leg and other very minor surface marks. A very clean and bright tile.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Surface marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
