Condition: Very fine Four minute rim chips, a few light surface
scratches, minor manufacturing imperfections. No
crazing, perfectly clean. Style/technique: Pictorial print From a series of equestrian and hunting
scenes a super view of a pair of horses jumping
a fence whilst riding across country. An
uncommon series of twelve in part based upon
drawings in the art book Microcosm by W H Pyne
and presumed to have been engraved by W P
Simpson but initials apparently 'MY' appear have
been noted on one example. This not an example
from the book those of which feature horses at
gallop show the rather unrealistic strides of
horse painting at the time whereas this is a
well proportioned and sensitively engraved work
of art. Verso fully marked as usual for Minton
Hollins. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on
screen is about the size as it would be in real
life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image
also in maximum quality JPEG format can be
forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
