Nursery Rhymes is one of three series that John Moyr Smith did for Minton Hollins rather than Mintons China Works. Nursery Rhymes allow Moyr Smith great scope to give vent to his humour, something he certainly liked to do, here the 'spider' who frightens Miss Muffet is represented by a lecherous looking gentleman.

A little roughness around the tips of the edges, minor surface marks, a very clean and bright tile.

The discolouration top edge and left edge is in the firing.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
