Aesthetic Pictorial Transfer Printed Tile
Style/technique: Aesthetic Pictorial Print Manufacturer: T & R Boote Dimensions: 6" x 6" Date: Circa 1880   A superb example of this uncommon series of times of the day and seasons of the year this of greyhounds warming themselves in front of a winter's open log fire. In a great soft blue which is also unusual this series being most often found in brown. A great example of some of the most stylised artistry of the period. Verso is Boote ring back but most unusually with the embossed cipher T & R Boote Burslem, this is rare and we have only seen it a few times and only on quality pictorial tiles.
Condition: Good Price: £185 (approx $367) Ref: 02572 Half a dozen edge chips of varying sizes clearly visible in the image, the tips of the edges are worn consistently and there is some light rubbing to the surface - this tile was in a trivet. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
