Art Nouveau Majolica Tile
Style/technique: Art nouveau majolica Manufacturer: J & W Wade Dimensions: 6" x 6" Date: circa 1905 Colours: 4   A superb art nouveau design with a very stylised and grand flower with cute row of almost square flowers along the top. One of the more popular designs by Wade by still we see nowhere many as we would like to, a great design done in numerous colourways, this with brown and yellow flowerhead, turquoise highlights and rich green background. Wade are famous for their pottery but not well recognised for their tiles although they are in the top few art nouveau tile makers for quality of design and colours and glazes.

A tiny surface chip, some light rubbing and touch of wear to four points on the outline. Perfectly clean and very good brilliance in the glazes. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
