Minton Hollins 8" Aesthetic Blue and White Tile
Style/technique: Aesthetic transfer print Manufacturer: Minton Hollins Dimensions: 8" x 8" Date: design registered 9th June 1876   An absolutely fabulous and highly stylised design, excellently printed in a super warm yet strong shade of blue. An outstanding modern design, bold and stylistic, in some ways having an art nouveau feel, comparatively a little restrained but this was 1876! Really vibrant tones of blue, very eye-catching, difficult to ignore. Famous designer? Probably but who knows! An outstanding design regardless of the name of the originator and excellent manufacturing quality. Verso very clean and fully named as usual for Minton Hollins and with indistinct registration mark although sufficiently clear to verify with published records.
Condition: Excellent Price: £140 (approx $285) Ref: 02804 Very small chip upper right edge and another on the surface nearby, very small chips either side of bottom right corner, very tiny chips top corners, a short, less than half an inch, strip of roughness to the tip of the edge lower left. A few very light surface scratches but very clean with brilliant glaze and no crazing, displays superbly. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 570 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Surface marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
