A fabulous 'Mackintosh Rose' style art nouveau design. Amazing colours, such soft yet distinctive colours are mostly associated with the art deco period c1930 yet this is mid-Edwardian and colour combination 'A' - the first. To be sure mostly colours in the Edwardian era were bright and rich but companies such as Marsden and Maw could achieve these excellent shades and textures. The background celeste blue is bright and translucent contrasting with the almost pastel, orange and light purple and with translucent aquamarine in the flower centres. It is quite exceptional, I believe the first time I have seen such colours and one of these immediately found a place in my collection.

Verso very clean, distinctive rubber stamped pattern number otherwise very ordinary bars and lock rings.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
