Very Rare Minton & Co 12" Circular Plaque

An extraordinary large circular figural plaque apparently of St Paul writing letters from his prison cell the finely detailed decoration glazed with a translucent 'mahogany' glaze. Made of plastic clay using the sandwich method whereby a layer of coarse clay is between two layers of fine clay the process to designed to prevent warping.

Rim chip at 1 o'clock, small rim chip and short scratch at 12 o'clock. Surface condition is very near perfect and the glaze has excellent brilliance.
