A group of some of the most attractive tiles I have seen, I am sorely tempted...... Handpainted overglaze in the most beautiful colours, wonderfully lifelike and yet stylish and pretty representations of fruit, flowers, butterflies and bees. The backgrounds are painted in a silk texture pale green which gives a great backdrop and minmises detraction from enjoyment of the subjects, excellently proportioned, filling the tiles but with enough room for a frame for those who wish to.

Wonderful for the green-fingered. or hippy chick, or tree-hugger, hopefully we shall still be able to enjoy the real thing in years to come and not depend on pretty pictures for the insecticides and GM are killing the bugs so the plants don't get fertilised and the birds don't get enough of the right food for protein to feed their young. Plant a budleigha and some nettles (yes nettles) to encourage the bugs and keep nature strong, at the very least only buy organic, it's best for you, for farm workers, for the wildlife and for the air, water and soil on which we all depend.

These tiles have had a few adventures, originally fitted in to a fireplace they were removed and stuck to a wall with adhesive, then apparently removed and stuck in to frames with silicon adhesive and then the whole lot has been again stuck to a wall. Well that's what it seems like from the three different types of adhesive on them when we got them. They now however are almost perfectly clean and really most attractive.

Versos almost perfectly clean, fully named as usual for Minton Hollins although these may have been decorated by an independent artist or studio.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
