Art Nouveau Majolica Tile
Style/technique: Art nouveau majolica Manufacturer: T & R Boote Dimensions: 6" x 6" Date: circa 1905 A bold and stylish design of the 'triple tulip' genre. Very stylish, smooth and flowing, I think it is a really great design and looks super in this olive green but would just love to see it in some of the bright blue or red glazes that Boote all too rarely used (or sold). Verso very clean with embossed Boote greyhound badge.
Condition: Very good Price: £60 (approx $118) Ref: #02931 Chip top left corner, other visible marks are manufacturing flaws, one very small and two very tiny specks of clay underglaze and a couple of tiny glazed over chips. A little rubbing near the edges and on the high points, perfectly clean and excellent brilliance in the glazes. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
