In stencilled slip and a complex and effective example of the genre. Nice blue flowerheads the foliage forming the perfect backdrop. Usually known as Marsden's patent this is not the case apparently due to a published misreading of the patent. Stencilling was a great way to produce striking designs with crisp outlines and was a means of bringing new designs into production quickly. As a consequence there were thousands of such designs by Wedgwood, few are found with any frequency, there is a surprisingly wide variety of designs and they are a great interest for collectors. Verso very clean, unmarked generic rail pattern.
