Condition Report
Half a dozen tiny or lesser edge chips, one
short scratch near mid left otherwise surface
condition is near perfect. The tile is very clean
and bright and the glaze has excellent
brilliance.

A design in the quartered style associated with
William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement,
the segments having alternate stylised flowerheads
and sprigs. Transfer printed in dark brown and
coloured with three bright colours, on a celadon
clay body and with a brilliant glaze.
Fascinating as this design was registered by
Edward Venables Greatbatch in 1884 yet is most
seen, or a design so similar that at a glance
appears virtually indistinguishable, by Minton
Hollins as can be seen
here.
Verso some soot stain, typical Booth grid,
printed registration number almost completely
obscured.
