Condition Report
Chip bottom edge, half a dozen very tiny chips,
rubbing to high points and other very minor marks.
great rilliance in the glazes.
|
A most unusual tile the style being in the
aesthetic quartered layout with gothic
influenced designs. A strong buff clay body
decorated with opaque glazes to mask the colour
of the clay. Possibly quite a bit earlier,
1870s.
Verso very clean ladder style, pattern number
painted. The die has been modified there being
evidence of a badge in the shape of Mintons
China Works Walbrook badge with the ribbons
extended and it appears likely it was made by
Campbell Tile Co.
