Condition Report

Chips to the corners and edges as seen. Two tiny chips on the left putti's arm and a little light rubbing to high points. Nice bright glazes and for such a high relief tile the surface condition is excellent.

 

A fascinating scene of three putti having an animated discussion about geography whilst around a world globe. Moulded in high relief and glazed in prussian blue and brown.

Verso quite clean absolutely plain, very likely Burmantoft.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
