Condition Report

Four very tiny edge chips, a tiny bruise, a little rubbing to high points, brilliant colour and glaze.

 

A great art nouveau design in any colour, subtlety and strength, form and movement, but this is a most outrageous blue. The 'triple tulip' genre expressed in a variety of forms this being finely modelled in bas relief well shown off by the translucency of the glaze. A very rich blue yet not too strong, very warm with the hint of mauve, a most singular colour.

Versos perfectly clean with Boote greyhound badge embossed.

'Chip' near top left corner is a glaze miss manufacturing flaw, a couple of minute edge chips, a little rubbing to high points, brilliant colour and glaze.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
