An excellent art nouveau design tile with
near perfect balance of complexity and
simplicity the design appears to fill the tile
yet is not overfussy or complex indeed is the
epitome of restraint. Just two colours although
much enhanced by the modelling skills, somewhat
unusual colours too there being a grey-green
ground and green-blue highlights.
Rarely can I find just cause to enthuse about
art nouveau designs by Minton Hollins but this
has great attributes. If one is to be honest
about design (and life in general) the intent is
to create the maximum effect with the minimum of
effort, this design does just that.
To add another twist that for the most part
only knowlegable collectors will take note of
the clay is most unusual being as best as I can
describe it 'buff drab' and such that I can not
recall witnessing before.
Excellent condition, a few very tiny marks to
the edges.
