One very tiny chip top edge. Style: Floral gothic An excellent stylised floral design of a
teasel that idiosyncratic plant loved by artists
and having a disctinct gothic feel. Well
decorated in five colours, I am sure it would
have been appreciated by A. W. N. Pugin who
would no doubt have produced similar had the
technology been available in his day. Five is
quite a few colours for a majolica tile,
certainly more than average, more so for
Pilkington and what's more this is the only
occassion I have seen sky blue and pink on a
Pilkington tile. These colours often adversely
react in firing and so are scarcely found
together. Very complex tiles to paint too with
lots of intricacies all in all unsurprising that
this group is the only time seen. Super tiles
and to cap it all amazing condition. Versos perfectly clean, the usual 'P's in
opposing corners. Very slight marks top edge near corners. A minute chip top edge near left.
