Two very small and a few tiny edge/corner chips,
some light surface rubbing, very clean and
bright. Style/technique: Pictorial print A most quirky tile, slightly undersize at
more like 5 3/4 inches and thinner than most as
if for a pot stand but on Boote's biscuit for
wall fixing having lock rings. The scene shows
Old South Church where the Tea Party met the
irony of the made in England tile apparently
lost on the importer. A great fun novelty item
for collectors of tiles, blue and white pottery
and Americana. Verso is clean, a plethora of marks, Boote
the biscuit maker, Wedgwood the decorator, Jones
McDuffee & Stratton the importer and
copyright holder. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
