8" A W N Pugin Gothic Tile
Condition: Very good Price: £55 (approx $80) Ref: 03451   An A W N Pugin for Minton & Co design dating from the 1840s or 1850s the tile made in the 1870s or 1880s by Mintons China Works. The design is illustrated in another colourway in Mintons catalogue on sheet 4 and has pattern number 1117. Verso unmarked, their usual diagonal grip pattern but without the name or badge. The image is a scan of the tile full size at 72 dpi (about 570 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
