manufacturing flaws, surface is virtually
perfect. Style: Art
nouveau An excellent Art Nouveau design, most
enigmatic, plant form but giving the impression
of facial features. Excellent colours, four
complimentary blues and greens against a creamy
ground. Verso perfectly clean, C's in opposing
corners and copyright embossed. * There were at least three companies with
Corn in the name and two Corn Bros. E. R. Corn
who started the tile business in 1891 said of
the transfer of the busness to the new Pinnox
Works in 1903, "at the same time, the existence
of two other concerns bearing the family name
-"Corn Bros." and "Corn Bros. & Co." -
having led to confusion, the name of W. & E.
Corn was allowed to lapse and the firm became
"The Henry Richards Tile Company Limited".
