Top corners trimmed for the original dry fixing,
very slight surface marks, very clean and most
brilliant glazes. Style/technique: Art nouveau
majolica An excellent and rarely found Art Nouveau
tile of the secessionist school. I love the
colours in tones of bronze and gold, even though
I may wish for reds and blues these have great
warmth indeed have classic empathy. Varying hues
particularly of the background give great depth,
five colours in a narrow spectrum add to the
feel of refinement created by the design. The
glazes are most brilliant and the elements
combine to make a most appealling tile such that
it carries an air of quality which is surprising
for Boote who competed in the 'affordable'
bracket of tile makers. Verso perfectly clean apart from a narrow
band of stain from adhesive around the edges,
plain unmarked grid. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A
larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG
format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
