Just a single very tiny chip on the top edge,
bottom right corner is a glazed over manufacturing
flaw. Perfect surface. Style/technique: Floral Printe &
Tint A pretty floral design, poppies on a cross,
printed in a warm soft brown and painted with
three colours. This design registered to the Staffordshire
Tile Co in 1893, it appears that they may have
been a marketing company/distributor for this
and other tiles were made by Corn Brothers. This
particluar tile probably made around 1905, it is
reported that Corn Bros addopted that name for
tile manufacture in 1894 in preference to the
former title of W & E Corn which they
continued to use for pottery. Verso very clean, embossed England, printed
CB and pattern number. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format, a
larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG
format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
