Condition:
Perfect Minor manufacturing flaws, perfectly clean,
brilliantly glazed. Verso has a thin coating of
latex adhesive residue remaining on the raised
grid, not sticky!
Style/technique: Aesthetic print &
tint A pretty aesthetic floral tile very much in
the style of the times in the early 1880s, a
naturalistic flower with a variety of border
patterns and stylised flowerhead peering from a
corner. Printed in brown and tinted with four
colours including red and a super blue. Verso Wood's unique grid, pattern(?) number
written, other numbers on the edges from the
printing sheet probably pattern numbers of other
designs on the same sheet. A solitary very tiny chip bottom left corner,
chip top right corner is a glazed over
manufacturing flaw. Bottom edge near right corner
are two tiny chips also manufacturing flaws caused
on removal from the kiln as the glaze ran over the
edge and stuck to something. Minor printing flaws,
perfect surface and perfectly clean. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format, a
larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG
format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
