Tiny chip in the enamel near the bell, scratch the other side of the bell, tiny chip and rust stain from the fireplace frame left edge. A few other tiny marks none of which seriously detract for it is an interesting and appealing tile.

This is a decent quality tile although made for the budget market as far as that went for such expensive large tiles this is good quality both manufacture of biscuit and decoration.

A nice view of The Bear at Devizes, a 16th century coaching inn now called The White Bear and not to be confused with The Bear Hotel in Market Square

12" x 6" tiles were very expensive around four times the cost of a 6" x 6" tile, their prime market was in fireplace cheeks where they made bold centrepieces, many were framed as pictures, few were used on walls.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
