One tiny and two very tiny rim chips, surface is
near perfect and brilliantly glazed. Style/technique: Pictorial print A blue and white picture tile featuring a
group of highland cattle in the scottish
moorland from the Animals of the Farm series.
Engraved by William Wise and printed in Indian
Blue a good example of this popuar series of
excellent manufacturing quality and a nice blue
which has turned out rich and clear in the
firing. Traditional blue ink made from indigo of
course is a great colour match and the likely
reason for Minton using this colour so familiar
it was with everyone until ball point pens
became the norm just a few decades ago. Indigo
being a vegetable stain couldn't resist firing
temperatures so Mintons formulated a matching
colour and hence the name Indian Blue for indigo
comes from India. Verso pefectly clean embossed Mintons etc The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on
screen is about the size as it would be in real
life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image
also in maximum quality JPEG format can be
forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
